A rare vintage 9ct solid Gold Ratchet Cog Rattle Charm. 
 
Historically this type of rattle was used as a musical percussion instrument, as a warning and signalling device in the First and Second World Wars and, until the early 1970s, used by fans at soccer and rugby matches in the UK.  
 
Ours is a very satisfying weight, at over 6g, and it makes a pleasing rattle sound when turned. It’s beautifully detailed and very unusual (see the lovely heart-shaped detailing along the edges).
 
Fully hallmarked for London 1966, and comes with a jump ring, ready to attach to your bracelet.
